Volunteering

Partnering in the classroom is vital to the success of our curriculum which is based on project-based learning and small group developmental instruction. Our school relies on parents or other family members to partner in programs to make our vision a reality.

Parents can help in a myriad of ways. Whether it is through helping a teacher in the classroom, leading an enrichment course, uplifting a student on the playground, or ensuring campus safety during drop-off and pick-up, our school relies on parent partnerships to help the school run the way it does.

Parents that choose Discovery are asked to partner in the following ways:

  1. Weekly Classroom Shift - Support the teacher for up to 2.5 hours a week per child (6.5 hours max per family). This includes yard or curb duty.

  2. Support 3 Field Trips - Drive/chaperone on at least 3 field trips a year.

  3. Campus Clean Up Day - Attend 1 campus clean up day throughout the year (done outside of school hours).

  4. Support 1 Partnership Role - Roles vary in scope, interest, and time commitment, and many can be done outside of school hours.  Parents can choose roles that align with their own strengths and passions.
