School Start Time

• Grades TK–5 begin at 8:30 AM
• Grades 6–8 begin at 8:35 AM

Late Arrivals

If your student arrives late, they are required to check in at the office to receive a tardy slip. Please ensure your child follows this procedure, as failing to do so may result in a call home.

Early Pick Up

All students must be signed out in the front office when leaving campus early.

In the event a student must leave during class hours, a parent/guardian or authorized adult (as listed on the emergency contact card) must sign them out in order for Discovery to comply with state guidelines for student safety. If someone not listed as an authorized pickup person will be signing your child out, you must email in advance at clerk-phx@mydiscoveryk8.org to provide written permission.

Come directly to the office to sign out and pick up your student(s).

It is always best to make every attempt to schedule appointments for your child outside of regular school hours.

If your child must leave school for an appointment, but will be returning, you must sign your child back in at the office upon their return.

Parents are given the Traffic Flow: Drop off and Pick up Procedure at the beginning of each school year. Children are not allowed to be dropped off before 8:10am. Parent greeters help children in and out of cars safely and expedite traffic flow in the mornings and afternoons. Drivers are expected to follow greeter instructions for safety purposes. All students should be picked up within 15 minutes of dismissal.
